Hui Zhang, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Genetics and Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Co-Director of the DNA Diagnostic Lab and Program Director of Medical Genetics Genomics. Her clinical focus includes diagnosing genetic conditions in children and adults, particularly those with developmental disabilities, autism, craniofacial anomalies, and inherited disorders. She emphasizes comprehensive care for complex medical cases and patient education.
Dr. Zhang holds a PhD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine (1994) and an MD from Shanghai Medical University (1988). She completed residencies at Yale University School of Medicine (2002) and Long Island College Hospital (1999), along with fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Her research and clinical work prioritize identifying genetic causes of rare diseases and improving diagnostic approaches. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support patients navigating complex medical needs. Dr. Zhang is also involved in academic leadership roles at Yale, including contributions to the Yale Center for Genomic Health and the Yale Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS).
