Dr. Hui Guo is a faculty member in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Faculty of Engineering. With expertise spanning digital processor architectures, energy-efficient computing, and hardware security, Dr. Guo contributes significantly to both research and teaching in computer engineering disciplines.
Dr. Guo's research interests focus on design approaches and customization techniques for embedded systems, with particular emphasis on security design for embedded systems, power-efficient processor systems, and cloud/edge computing applications. The research program addresses critical challenges in hardware security and energy efficiency for modern computing systems.
With publications including 1 book, 1 book chapter, 18 journal articles, 41 conference papers, and 5 preprints, Dr. Guo demonstrates an active research profile in computer architecture and security domains. The publication record indicates consistent scholarly output across multiple venues in the field.
As an educator, Dr. Guo teaches Computer Architecture and Microprocessors and Interfacing courses, providing students with foundational knowledge in computer hardware systems. The teaching responsibilities complement the research focus on processor design and system architecture.
Currently supervising PhD candidates Sajid Hussain and Shiyi Yang, Dr. Guo maintains an active research group focused on addressing contemporary challenges in secure and efficient computing systems. Dr. Guo received BE and ME degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Anhui University in China and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Queensland in Australia. Prior to joining UNSW, Dr. Guo worked in several companies in Canada developing large information and e-commerce systems, bringing valuable industry experience to academic research and teaching.
