Dr. Hugo Hogenbirk is a Postdoc at the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society at the University of Groningen. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the conceptual history of 'worldview' and its role in modern culture wars, combining philosophy, computational linguistics, and historical semantics. He leads projects funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), analyzing how 'worldview' evolved from 19th-century Germany to contemporary Latin America, intersecting with political ideologies and Indigenous activism.
Education: Completed his PhD in 2023 at the University of Groningen with a thesis on conceptual unity in early modern natural philosophy. His work bridges historical analysis with digital methods, including network analysis, corpus linguistics, and optical character recognition for early modern texts.
