About
Hugh Couchman is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at McMaster University. A Fellow of the CIAR Cosmology Programme, his research focuses on cosmic structure formation from post-recombination era to the present, utilizing high-resolution numerical simulations across computational platforms ranging from workstations to supercomputers.
- Research spans scales from sub-galactic to superclusters
- Developed advanced numerical tools for cosmological simulations
- Key work on galaxy formation and early cosmic objects
His computational methods research addresses the "Grand Challenges" of modeling 1010 mass-scale differences in cosmic evolution, with particular emphasis on adaptive algorithms and parallel computing architectures. Current projects investigate the formation of the Milky Way and first-generation galaxies.
