Assoc Prof Hou Han Wei is an Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (courtesy appointment) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He also holds an Adjunct Senior Research Scientist position at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His research focuses on microfluidics and organ-on-chip technologies for point-of-care diagnostics and biosensing. He completed his BEng (First Class Hons) and PhD in Biomedical Engineering at National University of Singapore (2008–2012), followed by postdoctoral training at MIT and a postdoc fellowship at LKCMedicine.
Research interests include lab-on-a-chip systems, extracellular vesicle isolation, and biomedical engineering applications. Key achievements include over 50 peer-reviewed publications, 12 patents (2 licensed), and awards like the IAMBE Early Career Award (2022) and NTU Young Faculty Special Mention (2022). His lab, Hoµ Lab, collaborates with clinicians to advance precision medicine and disease diagnostics.
Recent work includes ExoArc technology for blood diagnostics, highlighted in media outlets like The Straits Times and NTU News. He also serves on the Commissioning Panel for Lab on a Chip journal.
