Horatio Clare is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing (Non-Fiction) at the University of Manchester's Centre for New Writing. His literary output includes award-winning memoirs, travel narratives, children's literature, and winter journals that explore mental health, landscape, and human experience.
His research examines contemporary non-fiction forms including nature writing, reportage, and life writing. Award-winning works include 'Down to the Sea in Ships' (Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year), 'Running for the Hills' (Somerset Maugham Award), and children's book 'Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot' (Branford Boase Award).
Clare contributes regularly to BBC Radio programs including 'From Our Own Correspondent' and 'Sound Walks', and publishes in The Financial Times, The Spectator, and The Observer. His current project 'Your Journey Your Way' explores mental health system navigation.
