Hong Shi

Hong Shi is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire (UoG), with a focus on strategic hospitality and tourism management. She has contributed to the launch of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program and facilitated collaborations between UoG and Hong Kong Higher Education Institutions.

• Education: BA (Hons) in Modern Language (Shanxi Normal University, 1995), MA in Tourism Management (University of Derby, 1998), PhD in Strategic Hospitality Management (University of Derby, 2003), PGCHE in Teaching (University of Gloucestershire, 2006).

Her research explores the intersection of technology and sustainability, particularly how artificial intelligence, blockchain, and IoT address environmental challenges in hospitality and tourism. She has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in global hospitality operations, international destination management, and marketing strategy.

External responsibilities include serving as an examiner for DBA, PhD, and MBA programs at multiple UK institutions. Key awards include Sino-British Friendship Fellows Scheme and Chinese State Education Committee scholarships, alongside professional memberships in the Higher Education Academy, Hotel Association (China), and Hospitality Association (UK).
