Holger Nitsch is a Professor and head of the Social Science Department at the College of the Bavarian Police since 2009. Previously, he worked at an international security consultancy (1992-2006) specializing in passenger profiling and document fraud detection, training federal police at Munich Airport. He transitioned to full-time faculty status at the Bavarian Police College in 2006 after initial freelance collaboration starting in 2001.
His expertise spans terrorism studies, radicalization processes, and counterterrorism strategies with specialization in Islamism, organized crime, and social media's role in extremism. He also teaches sociology, political science, contemporary history, psychology, and leadership skills. As public relations lead, he established collaborations with police academies in Romania and Czech Republic, and participated in Bulgaria exchange programs through CEPOL ExPro.
Nitsch manages EU-funded projects including SMART CV, ISDEP (DG Home Affairs), and ePOOLICE (FP7 Programme). His research emphasizes globalization's impact on security issues and extremist ideologies.
