Holger Andreas

Holger Andreas is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia Okanagan's Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science. He specializes in Philosophy of Science, Formal Epistemology, Philosophical Logic, and the History of Philosophy. He holds a PhD from the University of Leipzig. His research integrates philosophical logic with epistemology, metaphysics, and philosophy of science, with notable contributions to causation theory, belief revision, and structuralist approaches to scientific theories.

Research Interests: Philosophy of science (theoretical concepts, causation, explanation), Philosophical Logic (conditionals, nonmonotonic reasoning), Epistemology (AGM belief revision), Cognitive Science (tractability of human cognition), and History of Philosophy (Leibniz, Schelling, Hegel). His work explores intersections between logic, science, and cognition, including publications on tractable reasoning, paraconsistent systems, and modal structuralism.

Publications include over 30 peer-reviewed articles and edited volumes, such as Logical Studies of Paraconsistent Reasoning in Science and Mathematics (Springer, 2016) and Causation in Terms of Production (Philosophical Studies, 2019). He also contributes to academic leadership, serving as editor for journals like Theoria and reviewer for multiple philosophy outlets.

Teaching focuses on Philosophy of Science, Logic, Metaphysics, and Epistemology. His research website hosts ongoing projects on causal modeling, belief dynamics, and structuralist theory frameworks.
