Dr. Himani Bhakuni is a Lecturer in Law at York Law School, University of York, where she joined in 2022. Her academic background includes a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, an LLM from the University of Groningen, and a BAL/LLB from Christ College, Bangalore. She held prior roles as Assistant Professor of Justice in Global Health Research at Utrecht University and Lecturer at Maastricht University. Her research focuses on Health Law and Society, intersecting Human Rights, Bioethics, and Global Justice. Key projects include the Politics of Disease Framing Project exploring neglected tropical diseases and upcoming work on Epistemic Rights and unhealthy diets.
Her research interests include Epistemic Injustice, Health Rights, Reproductive Justice, and Biomedical Research Ethics. She leads the York Human Rights Workshop and collaborates on projects funded through internal pump-priming grants. Bhakuni has provided consultancy to human rights organizations and served as a judicial clerk in India.
