Hilary Rose is a Lecturer in the Department of English within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches introductory writing and literature courses while pursuing research at the intersection of African American and Latinx literary and cultural studies.

Research Interests
Rose’s scholarship centers on 20th- and 21st-century African American and Latinx literature, with particular attention to poetry and performance. She investigates how minoritarian voices deploy aesthetic strategies to critique and re-imagine racial, gender, and sexual identities. Her work also explores critical race theory and queer theory as interpretive frameworks within film and visual culture.
