Hikmet Loe is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her work intersects education, writing, and curation, focusing on the dynamic relationship between humans and the environment through Land art and contemporary practices.
Research Interests: Loe explores the perceptual and cultural frameworks shaping our understanding of the Earth, with a focus on Land art, environmental art, and the regional context of earthworks. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges art history, environmental studies, and cultural theory.
Publications: Loe's notable work includes her 2017 book The Spiral Jetty Encyclo, which analyzes Robert Smithson’s regional engagement with the American West. She has also authored a book chapter examining U.S. Land art in relation to Las Vegas-based architectural practices.
Exhibitions: In 2021, she co-curated an exhibition featuring artists from the Nevada-based Montello Foundation at the Southern Utah Museum of Art, Southern Utah University.
