Hester Margreiter is a doctoral researcher at the University of Salzburg, affiliated with the Department of History under the Faculty of Cultural Studies. Since May 2016, she has served as a University Assistant for European Regional History, contributing to research on urban tourism and socioeconomic impacts.

Her research focuses on the structural effects of emerging tourism in New Orleans and Innsbruck, examining how tourism shaped urban infrastructure and local populations through a comparative historical lens. Margreiter received the Nick Müller Fellowship (2015–2016) at the University of New Orleans, supporting her dissertation project. She has also engaged in international study visits, including Cuba, Venezuela, and Vienna University of Economics and Business.
