Herta Nöbauer

Herta Nöbauer is Senior Lecturer at the University of Vienna's Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, focusing on human-environment relations in Alpine regions. Her research investigates glacier tourism economies under climate change.

Key projects analyze 'snow management' technologies, gendered labor in tourism, and political ecologies of artificial snow production. Recent publications document how Austrian ski resorts narrate and combat 'vanishing ice,' examining intersections of technology, labor precarity, and environmental transformation.
