Henry Tran is an Associate Professor of Education Leadership at the University of South Carolina, where he researches education human resources, diversity/equity/inclusion, and teacher workforce challenges. He directs the Talent Centered Education Leadership Initiative and serves as editor of the Journal of Education Human Resources. Previously, he worked as an HR practitioner in both public education and the private sector, holding Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM-CP, and SHRM Inclusive Workplace credentials.
His research examines systemic issues in education workplaces, focusing on evidence-based solutions for teacher shortages, equitable HR practices, and effective DEI implementation. Recent work analyzes how superficial diversity initiatives often fail to address root causes of workplace inequity and explores strategies for sustainable organizational change.
He has authored multiple books including Strategic Human Resources Management in Schools: Talent-centered Education Leadership and How Did We Get Here? The Decay of the Teaching Profession, examining the erosion of educator working conditions and compensation.
