About
Henrik Grénman is a Professor at the Department of Technical Chemistry and Reaction Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Åbo Akademi University. His research focuses on sustainable chemical processes, including hydrogenation catalysis, iron oxide reduction, CO2 methanation, and biomass valorization. Key projects include Depoly2ols (polyphenol/polyol production from lignin), CO2MET (methane production from CO2), and Bio4all (circular bioeconomy education).
His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovations in materials science, carbon capture, and renewable chemical production. Collaborations span Finland, Sweden, and international institutions, with funding from Business Finland and the Academy of Finland.
Recent publications analyze hydrogen-based iron oxide reduction, nanocatalyst behavior, and reactor design for sustainable processes. His expertise bridges catalytic reaction engineering and process intensification using hydrogen-rich systems.
