Henrik Bech Seeberg

Henrik Bech Seeberg is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University, specializing in European politics, political parties, youth wings, and political agenda-setting across advanced democracies.

His research investigates how political parties compete to set policy agendas and address societal challenges including climate change, terrorism, unemployment, and crime. He examines issue ownership dynamics, spatial proximity in party competition, and cross-national agenda-setting mechanisms through quantitative analysis of policy documents and electoral behavior.

Prof. Seeberg has received major recognition for his scholarly contributions:

• Gordon Smith and Vincent Wright Memorial Prize for best article in West European Politics (2020)
• Peter John Prize for best article in Journal of Public Policy (2023)
• Danish Local Government Award for book Explaining Local Policy Agendas (2023)

He secures substantial research funding as principal investigator for the YOUTHPOL project (6.5 million DKr from Danish Research Council) and AUFF NOVA project (2 million DKr), while leading the "Justifying Defeat: Party Leader Framing of Election Losses" initiative (2024-2029). His long-standing Danish Comparative Agendas Project (active since 2003) tracks policy priorities across multiple governments.

Prof. Seeberg actively fosters academic exchange through the "Aarhus Party Politics Speaker Series" supporting early-career researchers, and disseminates findings via high school lectures, Danish media commentary, and radio appearances.
