About
Professor Henning Wackerhage serves as faculty at Technical University of Munich's (TUM) Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, where he holds the Chair of Exercise Biology. Based in Munich (Conollystraße 32), his work integrates molecular biology with exercise science to investigate physiological adaptations to physical activity.
His research spans Molecular Exercise Physiology, Muscle Adaptation, and Disease Prevention, with emphasis on skeletal muscle metabolism and cellular signaling pathways. Current projects focus on energy regulation mechanisms in health and metabolic disorders through the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center TRR 333 (BATenergy).
Professor Wackerhage actively collaborates with University of Bonn researchers through TRR 333 while maintaining his primary laboratory at TUM. His group disseminates findings via the Exercise Biology website and Twitter (@TUMExerciceBio), supporting knowledge translation to clinical and athletic contexts.
