Dr. Henning Schmidtke is a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) since January 2019, focusing on the Latin American Studies Institute. He leads the project 'Sources and Consequences of Legitimation Strategies of Regional Organizations (LegRO),' funded by the Leibniz Association. His research explores legitimacy dynamics of international organizations, politicization processes, and institutional empowerment over time.
