Dr. Henk Taale is a part-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Transport & Planning, Delft University of Technology, and a senior consultant at Rijkswaterstaat. With over 30 years of experience in traffic management, traffic modeling, and evaluation, he specializes in anticipatory control of road networks and integrates route choice behavior into network control strategies. He holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics and a PhD from TU Delft (2008). His roles include coordinating evaluation studies at Rijkswaterstaat, managing the ITS Edulab (a TU Delft-Rijkswaterstaat collaboration), and teaching Traffic Flow Modelling and Control Part 2 to master’s students.
His research focuses on optimizing traffic management systems, particularly through anticipatory control mechanisms and European-level impact assessments. He advises master’s and PhD students on traffic management topics while maintaining active research on anticipatory control methodologies.
