Helmut Schubert

Prof. Dr. Helmut Schubert was a Professor at the Institute of Materials Science and Technology, Technische Universität Berlin, within Faculty III - Process Sciences. His research focused on powder and materials technology, catalyst processing, biocompatible coatings, ceramic structures, and ceramic matrix composites. He contributed significantly to the understanding of Li/MgO catalysts and oxidative coupling of methane processes.

His work spanned experimental studies on fluidized-bed reactors, phase system analysis, and defect structure impacts on catalyst stability. Schubert’s career was marked by collaborative research within UniCat, including contributions to Research Fields D1 and D2 (2012) and earlier work in C1 (2007–2011). He passed away suddenly in March 2012.

Publications highlight advancements in catalyst design, material synthesis, and reaction engineering. His legacy includes pioneering studies on manganese-based catalysts and lithium-doped magnesium oxide systems.
