Prof. Helmut Satzger is a University Professor at the Faculty of Law of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, leading the Chair of German, European, and International Criminal Law. His research focuses on European criminal law harmonization, international criminal justice, climate-related legal frameworks, and criminal procedure reform. He is author of seminal works like International and European Criminal Law (11th ed., 2025) and co-editor of the Münchner Kommentar zum StGB. Active in legal policy, he co-founded the European Criminal Policy Initiative (ECPI) and advises the EU Commission on criminal law matters.
Research interests include: European legal integration, jurisdiction of international tribunals, economic criminal liability (e.g., corporate compliance), and climate-related crimes.
