Helena Goodwyn

Helena Goodwyn is a Lecturer in English Studies at Northumbria University, joining in 2020. Her prior roles include Lecturer in Victorian Literature at the University of St Andrews and teaching positions at the University of Warwick and Queen Mary, University of London.

Her research focuses on British and American literature of the long nineteenth century, with expertise in book and media history, women’s literature, and gender studies. Her work explores intersections of literature with social theory, pedagogy, and transatlantic cultural exchange.

Recent publications highlight her engagement with topics like Victorian masculinity, feminist editorial practices, and the Americanization of journalism. She serves on the editorial board for the Journal of European Periodical Studies and acts as section editor for the Global Nineteenth-Century Studies journal.
