Dr Helena Fisk is a Research Fellow in Nutrition and Metabolism within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. She holds a PhD in obesity-associated inflammation from the same institution and has contributed over 20 peer-reviewed publications. Her work focuses on diet, inflammation, and immune function across the lifespan, with particular emphasis on obesity, ageing, and the effects of omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, and vitamin D. She co-leads research projects funded by the BBSRC and Medical Research Council, investigating lipid signaling pathways and dietary interventions.
Dr Fisk teaches on undergraduate medicine programs (BM5/6/EU) and supervises student projects. She chairs the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Lipids Group and has developed public engagement initiatives in nutrition and health. Her research highlights novel lipid signaling mechanisms in obesity and disparities in omega-3 effects across health conditions.
