Helen Maddison-Neill is a Senior Lecturer in STEM Education at Edge Hill University, specializing in Primary and Childhood Education. She holds leadership roles as the Inclusion Lead for the primary department and Course Lead for the part-time Primary and Childhood Education BA Undergraduate programme. Her work focuses on SEND, neurodiversity, mental health, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and accessibility in education.
She completed a BSc in Science from the University of Leeds (1995–1999) and is pursuing a Master’s in SEND with a focus on SEND and mental health. Her recent research includes a module evaluation on resilience in primary-aged children (2024), and she is finalizing a publication on resilience in children from her PGCert research.
Helen is actively involved in institutional governance, leading the Staff Disability and Neurodiversity network and serving on the Accessibility Working Group. Externally, she is a governor at Little Hoole Primary School. Her teaching spans levels 4–7, emphasizing inclusion, diversity, and wellbeing in education.
