Helen Colhoun

Helen Colhoun is a Professor at the University of Edinburgh, holding the AXA Research Fund Chair in Medical Informatics and Life Course Epidemiology. She leads the Diabetes Medical Informatics and Epidemiology group within the Institute of Genetics and Cancer, with additional affiliations to the Usher Institute and BHF Centre for Cardiovascular Science. Her work bridges genomics, epidemiology, and machine learning to advance diabetes research.

Research Interests:

• Diabetes complications (cardiovascular, renal, retinopathy)
• Integration of e-health records (EHR) and omics data
• Development of prediction models for clinical and self-management
• Design of clinical trials for diabetes therapies
• Collaborations on hypoglycaemia studies and pharmacoepidemiology
