Helen Chick

Helen Chick is Associate Professor in Mathematics Education at the University of Tasmania's Faculty of Education. Her research examines mathematics teacher knowledge development, particularly pedagogical content knowledge for teaching statistics and mathematical reasoning. She develops professional learning programs for primary and secondary teachers across Tasmania.

Her current projects investigate how teachers interpret student achievement data and use effective examples to address misconceptions. She coordinates graduate research and has received multiple teaching awards for her work in mathematics education.

Chick teaches units on mathematics curriculum design and student learning processes. Her textbook contributions advance understanding of quantitative literacy for educators.
