About
Dr. Helen Baker is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Edge Hill University's School of Law & Criminal Justice. She holds a PhD in Law and Women’s Studies from Lancaster University and an LLB from the same institution. Her research examines interpersonal violence, child-to-parent abuse, and state-corporate harms—particularly pharmaceutical industry practices—through feminist and critical theoretical lenses.
She teaches courses on histories of crime, law and society, and crimes of the powerful. Her scholarly work integrates socio-legal analysis with empirical studies of gendered violence.
Baker actively contributes to the Power, Discourse and Harms Research Group and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
