Heinz Engl is a Full Professor of Industrial Mathematics at Johannes Kepler University Linz (on leave since 2011) and served as Rector of the University of Vienna from 2011 to 2022. He is a leading figure in computational mathematics and inverse problems, with significant administrative roles including Vice President for Research at the University of Vienna and Founding Director of the Austrian Academy's Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics.
Education: Diploma in Technical Mathematics (1975), Doctorate sub auspiciis praesidentis (1977), Habilitation (1979) from the University of Linz.
Research focuses on mathematical modeling, simulation, and industrial applications.
