Heiko Diekmeier

Heiko Diekmeier serves as a Technical Director of the Photography Lab and Lecturer at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM), where he provides essential technical support for the photography department and project assistance for students and faculty. His responsibilities encompass overseeing all photographic work in the lab and conducting comprehensive introductions to photo studio techniques, digital image processing, and analog recording technology.

Mr. Diekmeier specializes in multiple areas of photographic technology with particular expertise in:

• Analog photography processes and black and white film development
• Digital image processing and output systems including Photoshop
• Studio photography techniques and advanced flash methods
• 35mm and medium format camera systems operation
• Scanner and printer technologies for professional output
• Technical foundations of aperture, shutter speed, and depth of field

As an integral part of the Photography Department's educational framework, he plays a critical role in ensuring students develop both artistic approaches and technical proficiency in photographic work through hands-on instruction and lab supervision.

Mr. Diekmeier actively participates in the Basic Photography Seminar alongside Andreas Langfeld and Claudia Trekel, teaching the technical components of photography to undergraduate and graduate students during weekly sessions held at the Photography Lab in Witschgasse 9-11.

He maintains close collaboration with the Cologne Drama School for practical applications of photographic techniques in motion and portrait studies, providing students with real-world experience in both studio and location settings.
