Dr. Heike Roth is a Senior Lecturer and the Course Director of the Bachelor of Midwifery program at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Faculty of Health, Centre for Midwifery, Child and Family Health. She also holds a Visiting Fellow position at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Faculty of Medicine - St George and Sutherland Clinical School since January 2022.
Dr. Roth earned her Ph.D. in Midwifery from UTS in 2021, following a Bachelor of Midwifery (2008), Honours (2010), Graduate Certificate in Adult Education (2013), and Screening, Diagnostics, Pharmacology and Prescribing for Midwives (2015). She also holds a Bachelor of Tourism with Marketing major from ECSEDI/ISALT in Brussels (1994-1997).
Dr. Roth's research focuses on long-term health outcomes after hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, particularly on identifying knowledge gaps and developing educational interventions for both women and healthcare providers. Her work also explores the impact of social media on postpartum women's health information seeking and body image. She has been instrumental in developing evidence-based education materials to address cardiovascular risks following pregnancy complications.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on women's long-term health after pregnancy complications, pushing techniques during labor, and the use of social media for health information delivery. Dr. Roth's work bridges clinical practice, education, and research to improve maternal health outcomes.

As Course Director of the Bachelor of Midwifery program, Dr. Roth supervises Masters and PhD students and is actively involved in curriculum development. Her current research is funded by the Maternal, Newborn and Women's Clinical Academic Group (MNW CAG) of Maridulu Budyari Gumal, the Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE). She is also a co-investigator on a project examining the use of social networking sites to convey health information to postpartum women.
Dr. Roth is an active member of the Australian College of Midwives since 2006 and serves as a Midwifery Advisor for the Australian Action on Preeclampsia (AAPEC) since November 2022. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration to address long-term health risks following hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
