Heike Frick

Dr. Heike Frick is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Chinese Studies, Department of History and Cultural Studies, Free University of Berlin, where she has served since 2010. She also acts as the BA Representative (Study Advisory Service) and ABV Representative. Her academic journey includes a Magister in Sinology from the Free University of Berlin (1993) and studies in History at Taiwan National University (1989–1990), complemented by language training at Taiwan's Mandarin Training Center.

Her research explores Chinese culture, art, and society with emphases on:

• Gender and childhood in modern China
• Visual culture and fine arts
• Environmental history
• Intercultural exchanges in East Asia

Her publications reflect interdisciplinary engagement with historical narratives, cultural memory, and societal transformations in China, particularly through lenses of gender, art, and education.

She has led research projects on gender representations in contemporary Chinese art (since 2015) and Republican-era childhood/women studies (1993–1999). While no awards are listed, her scholarly impact is evident through international conference participation and peer reviews.
