Heidi Scott

Heidi Scott holds dual appointments at the University of Maryland as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and as an Associate Clinical Professor in the School of Public Health. She additionally serves as Communications Director for the Global FEWture Alliance initiative within the School of Public Health, highlighting her interdisciplinary engagement across environmental and health communication.

Her research spans ecocriticism, environmental humanities, and energy studies, with work examining the cultural and literary dimensions of ecological crises, industrial legacies, and energy transitions. Scott employs historical analysis and theoretical frameworks to explore topics from Victorian industrialism to contemporary petroculture.

Publication analysis reveals predominant themes in energy narratives, Anthropocene ethics, island ecologies, and industrial landscapes. Her scholarship consistently integrates literary criticism with environmental justice, material resource studies, and the cultural history of extraction.
