Dr. Heidi Meister serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Portland State University's College of Education. She actively trains future educators through the Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP), Master's programs, Elementary (LEEP), and Bilingual Teacher Pathways as an instructor, advisor, and Clinical Educator for secondary classroom placements.
Her academic foundation includes an EdD from the University of Portland.
Dr. Meister's research pioneers technology-driven equity in education through:
- Underwater/land-based robotics for STEM and ocean exploration pedagogy
- Digital game-based platforms for social justice education
- Integration of Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning, and Inclusive Education frameworks
Her course designs emphasize project-based, culturally responsive experiences that prepare educators for diverse classrooms. As a Clinical Educator, she mentors teacher candidates during field placements while advancing practical applications of inclusive teaching methodologies across multiple licensure programs.
