Heidi Höppner

Prof. Dr. Heidi Höppner is a Professor for Interprofessional Healthcare and Systems Design at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH Berlin) since 2012, with her current professorship established in 2022. She serves as the program director for the Bachelor's program in Interprofessional Healthcare Online (IGo). Her academic work focuses on interprofessional healthcare systems, physiotherapy, and the integration of self-help groups into professional healthcare frameworks.

Her research interests span interprofessional cooperation in healthcare, therapeutic professions development, public health integration with therapy disciplines, and innovative educational approaches for healthcare professionals. She has developed significant research in connecting self-help groups with healthcare professionals as the 'fourth pillar of healthcare.'

Prof. Höppner has led numerous research projects including TheSe (Therapy Meets Self-Help), INTER-M-E-P-P Berlin (Interprofessional Learning and Teaching for Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Nursing), and P.F.o.r.t.E. (Partnership for Organizational, Regional, Transparent Development Partnerships). Her work demonstrates consistent focus on improving healthcare systems through interprofessional collaboration and innovative educational models.

Her notable scientific recognition includes the Innovationspreis FH Kiel 'CampusPraxis für Physiotherapie' (2004). She serves on the board of the Association for the Promotion of Science in Health Professions (VFWG) since 2017 and participates in various scientific advisory boards including for Hogrefe Verlag's 'Healthcare Professions' journal.

Prof. Höppner has supervised numerous research projects examining therapist workload ('Therapeuten am Limit'), career paths of dual-qualified professionals (therapy and public health), and interprofessional education models. Her work consistently bridges academic research with practical healthcare applications, particularly through her leadership of the Interprofessional Healthcare Online program.
