Dr. Heidi A. Miller serves as Associate Professor of Spirituality and Christian Ministry and Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at McAfee School of Theology, Mercer University, a position she assumed in 2022 after prior faculty roles at Pfeiffer University, Duke University, Southern Methodist University, and Eastern Mennonite University.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Liturgical, Spiritual Formation, and Theology from The Catholic University of America (2011)
- MDiv in Spiritual Formation and Worship Leadership from Eastern Mennonite Seminary (1997)
- BA in Social Work from Goshen College (1992)
Her research examines transformative leadership through spirituality, ritual, trauma healing, and worship practices, emphasizing embodied spirituality's role in empowering marginalized communities. She integrates clinical social work expertise with theological training to address organizational transition and soul tending across congregational, community, and global contexts.
With over two decades of experience, she has trained leaders throughout North America and co-founded non-profit organizations for collaborative mission work. She recently contributed to the Voices Together hymnal project for Mennonite churches and is currently authoring a book on embodiment in spirituality and worship.
