Hebatalla Taha is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) and Department of Political Science. She also participates in the MECW: The Middle East in the Contemporary World research network.
Her research focuses on the intersections of political economy, technology, and war in the modern Middle East, particularly Palestine/Israel and Egypt. Her doctoral work analyzed the role of Palestinians in Israeli capitalism through everyday encounters in unconventional sites of contestation like high-tech firms and shopping centers.
Her recent research explores nuclear histories and technologies in the Middle East, with publications appearing in prestigious journals including Third World Quarterly, International Affairs, and Global Affairs. Her work examines nuclear imaginaries in Egypt, atomic aesthetics, and the intersections of gender and nuclear discourse.
Her research output shows a strong trend toward nuclear politics in the Middle East, with numerous publications examining Egyptian nuclear history, atomic culture, and nuclear policy across the region. She frequently collaborates with the Nuclear Knowledges research collective at Sciences Po.

Dr. Taha actively contributes to academic discourse through conference presentations and workshop organization, including the Swemena Annual Conference and CMES Reading Course on the Israel-Palestina Conflict. She is involved in significant research projects including SWEMENA (Swedish Middle East and North Africa Network) and MECW 2.0.
She maintains an affiliation as an Affiliated Scholar at the Center for International Studies (CERI) at Sciences Po, where she collaborates with the Nuclear Knowledges research collective.
