Heather Weaver

Heather Weaver serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies and Storytelling within East Tennessee State University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She joined ETSU in 2024 and holds key departmental roles including TEDx ETSU representative and COMM 2025 Large Lecture Lead, overseeing graduate teaching assistants for the department's foundational communication course.

Dr. Weaver earned her BA in Broadcast Journalism and MA in Public and Corporate Communication from the University of South Alabama. Her educational background directly informs her teaching approach in communication disciplines.

Her teaching focus centers on developing students' public speaking abilities and foundational communication skills through courses like COMM 2025 (Fundamentals of Communication) and COMM 2045 (Public Speaking). Her expertise spans Communication Studies, Public Speaking, Broadcast Journalism, Corporate Communication, and Storytelling, with active involvement in campus storytelling initiatives through TEDx ETSU and the Storytellers Collective.

Dr. Weaver provides mentorship to graduate teaching assistants in the COMM 2025 program and actively participates in departmental student organizations. She maintains close engagement with the campus community, having quickly established herself since joining ETSU in 2024.
