Heather R. Perry is an Associate Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, affiliated with the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (CHESS). Her research focuses on the intersection of war, medicine, disability, and society, particularly in 20th-century Europe. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Indiana University and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Her current projects include Feeding War: Nutrition, Health, and National Belonging in Germany, 1914-1924 and Appalachia in the Trenches: Civilian Internees in WWI America, the latter supported by the digital humanities project Carolina in the Trenches. She has authored a first book on disability medicine in WWI Germany and contributed to a second book on nutrition research.
Her teaching includes courses on Modern German History, the History of the First World War, Medical History, and Epidemics. She maintains an active faculty website at pages.charlotte.edu/heather-perry.
