Dr Heather Morris is a Research Fellow in the Health and Social Care Unit at Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine. Her work focuses on early childhood education, trauma-informed practices, social care, and implementation science. She collaborates with community organizations to enhance service delivery for vulnerable populations, leveraging expertise in program design and qualitative research. Dr. Morris actively contributes to research translation, emphasizing system-level change through co-design approaches.
Her research spans topics such as trauma-responsive school environments, workforce wellbeing interventions, and evaluation of social programs like the Cradle to Kinder home-visitation initiative. She leads or co-leads multiple ARC-funded projects, including studies on theory use in social care and improving outcomes for children in out-of-home care. Dr. Morris is committed to mentoring students and advancing equitable healthcare access through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key projects include the ‘Theory Use in Social Care Practice’ (ARC, 2024–2027) and ‘EQUIPping Tertiary Care for Primary Aldosteronism Diagnosis’ (Dept. of Health, 2022–2025). Her publications highlight themes such as clinician-patient interactions, EMDR therapy applications, and systemic barriers in social care. Dr. Morris is actively supervising PhD candidates via Monash’s SupervisorConnect platform.
