Heather Mae Erickson

Heather Mae Erickson is an Associate Professor and Ceramics Coordinator at Western Carolina University's School of Art and Design within the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts. She holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from the University of the Arts. Her career includes residencies at the Archie Bray, Aalto University (via Fulbright), and the International Ceramic Research Center, alongside teaching roles at institutions like Alfred University and CU Boulder.

Research interests focus on ceramics, sculpture, and engaged scholarship, emphasizing community-building in education and professional curation. Her work explores mold-making, slip-casting, and prototyping, with exhibitions internationally. Notable awards include the Horizon Award and Korea Biennale recognition. She advises the Mudcats Ceramics Club, fostering community service projects like Cups of Sunshine.
