Heather Fields Stern

Heather Fields Stern is an Assistant Professor in the Theatre Department at Suffolk University, where she has taught and mentored students since 2015. She also serves as Director of the Arts Administration Minor and previously held leadership roles at The Mama Project (Cape Town), Actors’ Shakespeare Project (Boston), and Paper Mill Playhouse (New Jersey).

Her research focuses on the transformative potential of community-based arts in motivating academic aspirations, particularly for Black and Coloured women in South Africa. She is affiliated with Actors’ Equity Association and has extensive experience in professional theatre management.

Heather teaches courses ranging from stage management to arts administration and consults on global issues through creative practices. Her office is located at 8 Ashburton Pl., 12th Floor, Rm. 1226, with office hours by appointment.
