Heather Dawson

Dr. Heather Dawson is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at the University of Michigan-Flint within the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Her research focuses on the ecology and management of Great Lakes sea lamprey, an invasive species, and extends to Blanding’s turtles and fish distribution in river systems. She frequently employs quantitative models to inform strategic decision-making for invasive species management.

Dr. Dawson maintains a long-term collaboration with the Michigan State University Quantitative Fisheries Center, aiming to refine management practices for Great Lakes sea lamprey. Her professional work bridges fisheries and wildlife management with population dynamics and conservation biology, emphasizing sustainable resource management.
