Dr. Heather Chiero is an Associate Professor at Augusta University’s Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, specializing in History, Anthropology, and Philosophy. She holds a Ph.D. from Texas Christian University, with earlier degrees from Tulane University. Her research focuses on colonial Latin America, gender dynamics, and underrepresented populations, particularly in Central America and Mexico. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and leadership certifications from regional programs.
Her teaching interests include Latin American history, migration, and social history. Dr. Chiero has authored works on Maya women, colonial textile industries, and crime in colonial Guatemala.
