Heather Buchman is a Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at Hamilton College. She directs the Hamilton College Orchestra and Chamber Music program, and serves as Education and Outreach Conductor for Symphoria, Syracuse’s professional orchestra. Her innovative programs for Symphoria’s Education and Spark series demonstrate her commitment to cross-disciplinary arts engagement.

Research Interests:
Buchman focuses on the intersection of music and dance, collaborative artistic practices (theater, film, puppetry), and conceptual program design for orchestras. Her educational initiatives emphasize interactive music contexts, kinesthetic learning, and interdisciplinary storytelling. She explores sound art installations and music technology integration in live performance.
