Heather Altman

Heather Altman serves as Vice President of Outreach & Community Connections at Carol Woods Retirement Community, focusing on community-based initiatives for aging services, care transitions, and aging-in-place. She concurrently holds an adjunct assistant professor position at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, teaching courses on aging & social entrepreneurship and aging & sustainable community development.

Her educational background includes:

• Undergraduate degree from Brandeis University
• Master of Public Health (MPH) from UNC-Chapel Hill
• Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from UNC-Chapel Hill

Dr. Altman's research and professional work centers on aging services delivery, social entrepreneurship models for elderly care, sustainable community development frameworks, health policy implementation, and workforce development strategies. She emphasizes practical applications for improving care transitions and enabling aging-in-place through policy and community initiatives.

She serves on boards of local non-profits and public agencies dedicated to older adults and caregivers, and was appointed project manager of the Global Aging & Technology Collaborative (2014) involving Carol Woods, UNC, MIT, Cambridge, and Newcastle Universities.

Prior professional experience includes roles at the Center for Advancing Health (Washington DC), Howe-Lewis International, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (New York City).
