Dr. Heasook Rhee is a distinguished Professor of Piano Chamber Music and Collaborative Piano at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she has been a faculty member since 1998. She previously taught at the University of Texas at Austin and has served as a guest professor at prestigious institutions including Detmold Musikhochschule in Germany, Seoul National University, and Yonsei University in Korea.
Her research and professional interests center on collaborative piano performance, instrumental accompanying techniques, and chamber music pedagogy. Dr. Rhee's expertise is reflected in her internationally recognized book The Art of Instrumental Accompanying, published by Carl Fischer Music in 2012 and subsequently translated into Chinese and Korean. Her work emphasizes the artistic and technical aspects of collaborative performance, establishing her as a leading authority in the field.
Dr. Rhee's recorded output includes the critically acclaimed 'Cello Sonatas of 1948' with cellist Tilmann Wick, featuring works by Miaskovsky, Carter, and Poulenc.
