Hazem Abbas is a Continuing Adjunct Professor at the School of Computing, Queen’s University, with a focus on theoretical foundations and optimization of machine learning models. He has held leadership roles as Chair of the Department of Computer and Systems Engineering at Ain Shams University and Dean of Media and Engineering Technology at the German University in Cairo. His professional experience includes work at the Royal Military College, IBM Toronto Lab, and Mentor Graphics (now Siemens EDA).

- Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada
Research Interests span neural computing, evolutionary algorithms, and applications in computer vision, image processing, natural language processing, and optimal neural network design. He has also chaired the IEEE Signal Processing Chapter in Cairo and the TC3 Technical Committee of the International Association for Pattern Recognition.
