About
Hazel Christy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Grinnell College. Her research focuses on algebraic topology, particularly equivariant homotopy theory, which explores algebraic invariants for symmetric geometric objects.
- Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oregon (2020)
- B.S. in Mathematics from DePaul University (2014)
Christy co-organizes the Grinnell Math and Statistics Student Seminar, supporting student-led presentations on mathematical and statistical research. She previously held positions at UCLA as a Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professor (2020–2023) and at the University of Oregon as a graduate student (2014–2020), where she worked with advisor Dan Dugger.
- NSF-funded postdoctoral fellowship in Computational Homotopy Theory
