Haylee Kushi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, affiliated with both the Gender & Women’s Studies Department and the History Department. Her research focuses on histories of Native print cultures, Indigenous language preservation, and the intersection of race and settler colonialism in Hawai'i and the Americas.
- Research Interests: Native print presses, Indigenous language revitalization, comparative Indigeneity, race studies, settler colonialism, Hawaiian history.
Kushi teaches courses in United States history, Indigenous history, women's and gender studies, and place-based learning methodologies. She is based in the University Classroom Building, Room 350, and can be contacted at hayleek@hawaii.edu.
